ID5 Annual Meeting 2025 Held by Five Intellectual Property Offices of China, the US, Europe, Japan, and the ROK

The 2025 ID5 Annual Meeting was held in a hybrid format from October 23 to 24, hosted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as the rotating chair.

Attendees included Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA); Sanders Laganovskis, Director of the Department of Cooperation and Partnership at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO); Hiroshi Kitamura, Director of the Patent and Design Examination Department of the Japan Patent Office (JPO); Kim Bo-young, Deputy Director of the Design Examination Policy Division of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO); Mary Critharis, Executive Chief Policy Officer and Director of International Affairs of the Office of Policy and International Affairs at the USPTO; and Grégoire Bisson, Director of the Hague Registry at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

In his opening remarks, Lu Pengqi emphasized the important role of design in promoting economic development across countries. He noted that the ID5 cooperation mechanism plays a crucial role in coordinating the development of design systems among the five offices and leading global trends in design protection. He expressed his hope that the five offices will continue to work together to achieve even more fruitful outcomes.
